Larry King Interview

Last night, Joel Osteen was on Larry King Live. Apparently, Osteen leads the 'largest congregation in the US'. I have heard of him, but I didn't know that about him - I'm not really big on keeping up with who's who in this world.

I caught the last half of the interview and I agreed with some things that he said, but being the person that I am (haha), some of the things he said annoyed me. For instance, King asked him what are some things that make him angry. Osteen's response was something ridiculous like, "Oh, I don't get angry." Thanks Joel. That comment really makes Christians look like real people. Everyone gets angry, period and I think that is perfectly fine. Of course, how you choose to handle that anger is what matters.

The second thing that annoyed me most about this interview was his response to King's question about Christ's return. Osteen's answer was something on the lines of 'I don't really know much about that. I try to stick to the things I know.' Then King turned to Mrs. Osteen with the same question to which she replied, "Oh he's coming back....on a white horse." Now, don't get me wrong. I'm no scholar on this either, but couldn't they have said that the Bible promises Christ's return and maybe back up his return biblically. How about John 14:2 "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am giong there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

I believe people are looking for truths - good, strong Biblical truth! And after watching this interview (Osteen looks a lot like Clay Aiken by the way) I'm challenged to be able to back up what I believe - not with my opinion of things - but with solid truth, straight out of scripture.

We're back from Mississippi!! It was a really quick trip. I felt like we were packing up to come home as soon as we got there! Will post more about this later....
