My Country

This morning at work, my students and I were watching Channel 1. They were doing a 9/11 Memorial Special on everything that happened five years ago today. We were (as usual) interupted by the morning announcements, but it actually ended up being kinda cool because as we were standing saying the pledge, we could actually see the destruction of NYC on the TV because the TV is in front of the flag. It gave the Pledge of Allegiance a little bit more of a special meaning and I felt a little bit more patriotic.

"You can't put democracy and freedom back into a box. "
- George W. Bush

Don't ever take advantage of the great country God has given us!

"This flag, which we honor and under which we serve, is the emblem of our unity, our power, our thought and purpose as a nation. It has no other character than that which we give it from generation to generation. The choices are ours. It floats in majestic silence above the hosts that execute those choices, whether in peace or in war. And yet, though silent, it speaks to us — speaks to us of the past, or the men and women who went before us, and of the records they wrote upon it."
- President Woodrow Wilson
