Boone as a pup, supporting his colors. See how he's grinning. I was actually sitting in that chair, got up to do something, and he hopped up there and smiled that evil grin.
Today is June 6 and it is Boone's birthday. He is 1 or 7 - depending on your perspective. Tonight, I'd like to tell you the story of Boone. I haven't shared this with many people, so here goes....
My dad was killed in an accident at work on Wednesday, September 21 last year. The Sunday before that, I was visiting him. My parents always have the latest issue of the IWANNA, so I was looking through that paper in hopes of finding me a dog for my new house (which is another story within itself). I found Boone that day and told diddy that I was going to name my dog after him. I originally wanted to name him Abe, daddy's CB handle. He just smiled and laughed at me when I told him that. I was always doing crazy things that made him laugh at me. Long story short, I ended up getting Boone one week later, but didn't want to name him Abe anymore for obvious reasons. It just didn't seem right to have a dog named Abe. I still wanted to name him after my dad because that was one of the last things Daddy and I had talked about. So...I came up with Boone because daddy had driven a truck for a place called Boones Creek Lumber.

Boone is a loyal companion. He may be a little ADHD, but we're working through that.
I'll still use the name Abe somewhere. Maybe I'll save it for a son that I might have one day....who knows......
