Letting It All Go

I'm a fan of the Old Testament. I find enjoyment in reading those messed up stories (trust me, there's some doosies in there). I've been reading in Exodus lately and God gave me something that I think is pretty neat. God, through Moses, commanded Pharoah to let the Irealites go (are you singing that song yet?). Pharoah refused and did this over and over, just being so hard headed about it! Pharoah gave in a little bit before the locusts came and said that only the men can go and worship the Lord. He gave some, but not all! This was not good enough for God, because he wanted everyone to be free, including the women and the children (Yay God for remembering us !!). After the darkness came, Pharoah says everyone but the flocks may go - but that still wasn't everything!! God wanted it ALL. We all know how the story ends, but what God revealed to me through this story I grew up hearing was the question: WHAT AM I NOT LETTING GO OF COMPLETELY? He wants every single bit of me. All my thoughts, my goals, my dreams, my desires..ALL of that. We can't have true freedom until we turn lose of it ALL!!

AMEN! and hard to do. We can be so selfish-- hey it's all God's anyway, and yet somehow we get it mixed up.
